Tabitha (Tab) Banks, Social and Behavioral Sciences administrative assistant, was recently presented Chattanooga State Community College’s 2020-2021 Support Staff Excellence Award.
Excellence Award winners all embrace the characteristics of teamwork, integrity, productivity and professionalism to ensure student success.
“Uplifting” is the word used most frequently by her colleagues to describe Banks.
“Not only does she put student success first, but she stands for employee empowerment and never wavers, even in times of uncertainty,” noted Silang Sam, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion administrative assistant.
Sam explained that as current president of the Support Staff Association, Banks provides words of encouragement, helpful resources, and is constantly thinking of ideas to build morale–together with looking for ways to include employees that do not have the opportunity to get involved due to their position responsibilities.
Carolyn Clark, retired Math and Science administrative assistant, described Banks as a “true motivator and team player” who works hard to make everyone a part of the team at Chattanooga State.
In addition to the other attributes of Banks, her recent completion of the ChattLead program will continue to add to her leadership abilities.
Chattanooga State’s ChattLEAD is designed to strengthen new and emerging leaders from across the campus using a cohort method.
Banks earned a bachelor of science degree in Organizational Management from Covenant College, a private Christian liberal arts institution located on Lookout Mountain in Dade County, Georgia.
Nominated by Chattanooga State colleagues, the Employee Excellence Award Selection Committee is chaired by a Chattanooga State Foundation Board member and includes two representatives each from the Faculty Senate, Professional Staff Association and Support Staff Association.
Other 2020-2021 Excellence Award winners include Rebecca Aslinger, Susan Jennings, Jeffery Long and Doug Morris. Winners are gifted with a $750 award funded by the Chattanooga State Foundation.
