Last Saturday afternoon, November 13, several Power Five teams were looking to improve their bowl eligible record, including the Kentucky Wildcats, who were also looking to snap its three-game losing streak, while several other Power Five teams, including the Tennessee Volunteers, were just simply looking to keep their hopes of becoming bowl eligible alive.
However, the unranked Volunteers lost all hopes of becoming bowl eligible, for taking a 41-17 Neyland Stadium home loss from the top ranked Georgia Bulldogs, followed by the unranked Vanderbilt Commodores taking a 34-17 Senior Day loss from the unranked Kentucky Wildcats, at Tennessee Stadium.
The volunteers were coming off of a very contentious 45-42 rivalry win at No. 18 /17 ranked Kentucky.
As for the Commodores, they were back at home (Tennessee Stadium), after a one-week hiatus and a 37-28 home loss to the unranked Missouri Tigers, on Saturday, November 6.
Versus Kentucky the Dores looked like a team of commanders who couldn’t pour water from their boots with directions on the bottom, especially in the first half, in which Kentucky scored on its first five drives, en route to taking a 31-3 halftime lead. But, thereafter, the Dores rallied, outscoring Kentucky 14-3 over the last two quarters.
But, it was obviously unfortunate to see time wane in this game for the Dores, much like it mercifully has for their season.
