NASHVILLE– Tennessee House Democratic Whip Jason Powell has appointed Rep. Jason Hodges of Clarksville and Rep. Yusuf Hakeem of Chattanooga to the positions of Deputy Whip. The appointments were announced today by Rep. Powell. They will assist Rep. Powell in his role of Minority Whip of keeping track of the number of votes for and against a piece of legislation and gathering support for a particular position. Whips also serve as liaisons between the members and the party leadership.
Both Hakeem and Hodges have previously served in the 111th General Assembly.
