The Chattanooga Area Historical Association hosted its Annual Luncheon meeting April 23, 2022, at the Mountain City Club, located on Chestnut Street in downtown Chattanooga. The luncheon featured Chickamauga National Military Park historian Jim Ogden, who spoke on General Ulysses S. Grant’s 60-day stay in Chattanooga during the Civil War. Ogden, a long-time fixture at the National Park, is well known for his knowledge of the Civil War, which played a central role in the history of Chattanooga and the surrounding area.
Attorney and historian Maury Nicely received the ‘Historian of The Year’ Award which is presented annually by the organization. John Shaerer and Carrington Montague placed second and third in a close final round of voting.
Joe V. Williams, President of CAHA said, “this was one of the largest crowds in attendance in the luncheon’s history”.
