Building a small fleet, bidding on contracts, safety for women, technology in logistics, mental health awareness, and the future of trucking were some of the seminar topics discussed during the S.H.E. Trucking 2021 Expo, Friday & Saturday, Sept. 17th & 18th, at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
Nearly 1,000 individuals, representing 20 states and Washington, D.C. attended the event. A first of its kind to highlight women and African American leaders in the transportation industry, the expo is the brainchild of Chattanooga resident Sharae Moore, founder, CEO & owner-operator of S.H.E. Trucking, LLC.
The event kicked off with proclamations, designating S.H.E. Trucking 2021 Expo Day and signed by the Tennessee General Assembly’s Speaker of the House, Hamilton County Mayor and City of Chattanooga Mayor. In addition, the Chattanooga Urban League presented a small business education grant of $3,000, while several sponsors awarded scholarships to area residents seeking to enter the truck driving profession.
Other activities included: over 100 vendors, show trucks, live entertainment, a Truck ’N Paint art therapy session, fashion show, an awards ceremony, industry podcasts, a black tie gala and Trucker Appreciation Cookout.
The expo, which took place during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, celebrated the millions of truck drivers that transport goods throughout the U.S., provided education and resources to small business owners, and offered diverse individuals opportunities to join the industry.
